WIR2 Homework – Week 16
(as listed on the weekly schedule in our book)
Homework due January 16th includes the following:
1. Watch: What is Writer’s Voice?
2. Study these examples on tone and voice to see how the right word choice can convey a specific mood.
3. Complete: -All assignments listed for Week 15 above and on the schedule in your book.
Put your books and folders in our class bin (or on the counter) in the basement kitchen before first hour next Wednesday. I will be working on grading over the next few weeks.
Notes:
Developing your writer’s voice can be challenging and confusing. When you read something out loud you can change the tone with your physical voice. When you are writing, you must choose your words carefully to convey a specific tone.
In module 8 you will be learning skills to help you communicate tone and emotion in your writing. Refer to a thesaurus and the list of vigorous verbs (that was handed out in class in December) often to help you find just the right word.
Do not simply rewrite the expert model changing it here and there. Write to your specific audience, in this case, your family. You know best how to appeal to them. You have been exercising persuasion in your home for 12+ years!
As you work through your revisions, do the following:
1. Read, revise, get feedback.
2. Set your writing aside.
3. Repeat.
Please contact me before Tuesday, if you have any questions.
“Finding your voice is a process, a journey to the center of you. You have a unique voice; one God gave only to you. It’s time to dig a little deeper and set it free.” - April Erwin
