Week 21 Homework
Complete all of Module 17
Complete all of Module 17
Module 17 is the beginning of Unit 5 which means we will begin working on a new writing assignment.
The assignment for this unit is an autobiography.
I think this is going to be a really fun writing assignment! It is the first personal narrative for WIR and I really do think the kids are going to enjoy it. They are going to create a story arc using plot and characters. They will learn to write so they hook their readers emotionally, building to a climax, and then wrapping up with the resolution. They are going to use dialogue in their personal narrative and pay attention to the voice of their writing. There is so much potential for learning with this assignment while at the same time validating the worth and importance their life.
Your child's life story IS important and we want to help them convey that in this assignment.
Any help you can offer in helping your child identify the important events in life so far and capturing the emotions surrounding them would be beneficial. In the midst, of all of this fun we will have yet another grammar workshop as we do in every unit. The focus this unit is on prepositional phrases. This unit will take us past spring break and my hope is that your child really embraces it and has fun telling "their story".
Here's is a snapshot of what we did in class on March 5 and what is assigned and due on March 13:
